Why so negative ah???
Car accidents is one of the main causes of death in this country. What can we as responsible drivers do to reduce or eradicate this problem?
Some possible solutions from students that I remembered - increase fines for reckless drivers, always wear your seatbelts, use ear piece or bluetooth ear piece when driving and the most classic one - 'Don't Drink and Drive'. That's MTV and HBO for you and me.
Quite a number of Mr BR's regular visitors gave a great response about 'Drivers in Brunei'. Not trying to steal Mr BR's post but how my comment about building a race track would 'perhaps' allow 'wannabe-racers' a legal place to 'wreck' their cars. An Anonymous blogger shot me in the face with a rather negative reply. Well at least that is what I have come to understand by it. A text book answer 'would be to put up traffic lights at roundabouts', who ever came up with such a brilliant idea.
Yes some drivers live on the edge but not all. Why does a race track have to be just a training ground? If we are cultured, educated, civilised people then we should not think like that. My singaporean friends love racing but they abide by the rules and drive down to Sepang every month to race for a weekend and become normal drivers when they get back to Singapore.
I am not saying that building a race track will totally solve the problem but it will make 'wannabe racers' think about their own safety. It is not totally a bad idea, but if we have support from the relevant authorities and perhaps a proper background study on how the introduction of race tracks and legal drags for cars and motorcycles in Malaysia have influenced a better, or not, driving culture amongst Malaysia Drivers. Indeed Malaysia also suffer from a lot of car accidents but again what I would like to point out is that, if we are cultured, educated and cilivised people we should always think about our actions before hand.
We have been urged to be creative and positive but when a 'useless' idea like this is shared. We have 'constructive' criticism making us better people.
But then again we are human and we always make mistakes anyways so why bother. Because some people just do not understand.
