I did a brief post about the King of Par 3 2006 in an earlier post. It won't be any different here. Hehehehe. Just a bit more detailed I guess.
First I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the organising committee of the King of Par 3 Tournament this year. I have to say it went pretty smoothly. You got to love to goodie bags. It had a Polo Shirt sponsored by GHK, a rose print mug, a bottle of SEHAT and ‘Kerepek Pisang’, oh and a menu from one of the caterers I figure.
I left home at Ten to Six and arrived at the Garden course at Ten past Six. Some of the other golfers were already there and I saw a few familiar faces. The sun was still sleeping above the clouds and the weather was just wonderful. I was also delighted to meet an old friend from secondary school whom I have not spoken to in a while, Mr Hj Alinoride. It is always nice to meet old friends.
A short briefing at Ten to Seven by Flyboy and we then we made our way to our respective Tee Boxes to Tee off. It was not as mention a ‘Shot Gun Tee Off’ but rather a whistle Tee Off.
I was assigned to Tee Box #3 with, in alphabetical order of our “full” names; Renny, Muaz, Myself and Tom.

My group - Tee Box #3 was a nice bunch of guys. They knew each other already and made it easier for me to ease myself in the group. Mr Renny is a young man but when he gets his swing right he can really let it fly and straight. Mr Muaz, responsible for bringing me into this tourney (Thank You) is also a strong hitter but it took him till the second round to start getting his Pars. A newcomer like myslef is Mr Tom - also a young man and started playing golf 2 years ago and he did very well himself. His chipping and putting were good and earned himself some pars.
Renny was given the honours and next was Muaz, then myself and last was Tom.
Rules and regulations about the tourney can be found at the King of Par 3 official site.
I was so nervous. The day before I played with my mates and it was a very terrible outing for me. So I started talking to myself and said, ‘The most important thing is not to make a fool of myself. Also keep my eyes on the ball.’ Walla! My first tee was a success. I was so relieved. I surprised myself throughout the day.
I got my first ‘nearest to pin’ experience on hole #5. I had not intended to get it there I was just hoping it did not fade or hook. Used my pitching wedge with a ¾ swing and there it was on the green. I was ecstatic. But someone else won the prize – a Greg Norman Sunday Bag, a one Ak Khairul if I’m not mistaken.
There were a few other holes where I manage to get on the green from the Tee but I do not really remember which holes. I am still a beginner in this sport so there are so many things for me to learn to make my game better. My chipping was ok la. My putting, not the most convincing with my Odyssey 2-Ball. Muaz suggested I get a blade putter. Note taken - Thank You Muaz.

My mentality from the start was just to enjoy the day and have fun. At the end of the day, I figure I had finished my first golf tourney at the Garden course and I am absolutely happy that I did not lose any of my balls and as I had set out to do, I was there to have a fun Sunday out playing golf. Mission accomplished.
Regarless of my total gross of 93 and total nett of 64, I was still able to smile and smile at a couple of new friends I met at the start of the day.
But does not mean I am satisfied. Oh No! Sir No! I think the tournament was just the antidote that I needed to motivate myself to not let my mizuno set collect dust in my Fiance's Father's Office Room. Because that is where it has been hanging out since I stopped playing in June 2005.
I will be making some visits to RBAGCC and Pantai in early September during my much deserved holiday. Any takers?? Hehehehe. So some of you might see me at the driving range trying out my driver, 3 and 5 wood and long irons.
I would like to also greet Mr BR for becoming the guest of honour at the Tourney. ZT's Dad, for also giving out prizes and my prize as well. =) Also to Mr RA.com for the pictures you have sent to my email which I have posted on my multiply and also for putting my picture in your site. *blushing* Thanks alot. Also to the people I met during the Tourney - Mr Flyboy, Mr Ashadil a.k.a King 2006, Mr Hasnol, Mr Rebel, Mr Riaz, Mr Faiz for winning the lowest nett score, Mr Nazree, Mr Sayuti for being such a spontaneous and funny Emcee and others if I have forgotten to mention your names. My apologies. The King of Par 3 2006 will be something I will remember for a long time and this blog will always be here to remind me of it.
Mr Hasnol also took some great picture during the tourney that can be view at this link, click [here]
