Did you ever think that it could happen in Brunei?

Last night, the 'Berita pukul 8' and 'News at 10' informed the public about a missing girl. There were also two seperate articles in the BB and MP yesterday.

The missing girl is named Norhafizah binti Ramlee. She is actually one of my students and she is in form 2 now. She did go missing once last year and she stayed at her boyfriend's house. Form One and already had a boyfriend. Kids now adays.

I remembered her Mother came by the school a few days ago looking for her and that was the second day she had gone missing. As stated she had gone missing since the 24th.

Because of her past, I was being stereotypical and claimed that she had gone away with her boyfriend again. *tsk*tsk*tsk* Silly me*

I found her in class today and asked if she was alright. Alhamdulillah she is fine and still her usual self, because I was kind of afraid she would go through some kind of post-kidnap-trauma.

I asked her some random questions and the following is a brief statement from her:

Me: When did you get home?
NH: Last night Sir. I didn't go home. I met my mother at the parking lot behind RTB.

Me: What was she doing there?
NH: She was looking for me.

Me: You are one lucky girl. Have you made a police report? Since you were near the Bandar HQ?
NH: Yes Sir, I did.

Me: What happend? Why were you kidnapped? Who Kidnapped you?
NH: My Brother owes these guys some money. A group of young men Sir

Me: Did the men release you? Did they hurt you?

NH: I escaped Sir. They were all sleeping. I think they were 'syabuing' and I took the opportunity to escape Sir. They didn't hurt me Sir. But I had not eaten for 4 days Sir.

Me: I am happy you are safe. Thats the most important thing. I hope the men will be caught by the Police.

The conversation has been translated by Myself. As mentioned the above is only a brief statement from her.

Bet you didn't imagine something like this would happen in our country. The crime rate has risen for the past couple of years and this is not a good sign. In light of the "National Youth Day" coming 1st August, I hope the Ministry has some things planned out to curb this problem.

I am however, very disappointed at not being involved in it. I have sent my recommendations to the Ministry but again I have not received any feed back. So I did have a 'free holiday' to the Bahamas. Thank You!!

Well...my comment is...you shouldn't have posted the girl's photograph. She should remain anonymous. I think she has gone through so much without the added "publicity". She could have ran away because of many things - personal, domestic or watever. I think your role as a teacher is to give her the best advice and maybe she needs counselling.

BTW, i love your poems...its very intelligent. I hope you will write more. I shall look forward to reading your deepest thoughts soon.

Err... I got the picture from BB online and MP online. As stated in the latest update I figured she staged the 'kidnap'.

And I've sent her for counselling but I guess she just doesn't have a care anymore... *sigh*

Thanks Anonymous for the comment and do come again.. *smiles*
