V-Day Specials

I have blogging-itis. On a roll and the last post for today.
As mentioned before I wanted to do an entry on V-Day.
Overratted day and every year on 14th Feb everything related to 'L.O.V.E' is over priced.
14th February is a 'business strategy', a 'commercial exploit' of 'L.O.V.E'. Hotels and restaurants offer package deals and for what?

People pay for the 'romantic' experience but I bet you the most romantic experience one can create would be a home cook dinner and the privacy. Not that I have done this before but I am sure if the way to a husband's heart is the wifey's cooking, it should work the other way around as well.

I remember reading an interview with our principal for our newletter and he said that V-Day is Commercial love. You buy a rose which on a normal day would cost only $1.50 and then on V-Day it would cost $5. Shop owners theme song would be 'Show me the Mooneyyy' by Poetic Ammo.

It is not a crime to exploit V-Day because it is a win-win situation. It is on that day that 'shy' people become brave and confident to express their true feelings to their 'secret love'. With a rose in your hand you have the power to melt any girls heart.
Back in my MD years, V-Day meant that I had to save my pocket money so I could spend it on the girl I fancied. Flowers and chocolates just for her. Those were the days.

I remembered when I was still in the 'dating' phase I received a V-Day card from my future wife. I spent a chunk of my allowance on buying her a really nice card and something else which I do not remember. She gave me my one and only card and that was special to me. We didn't really celebrate it but it was just for the fun of it.
Interlude: You might want to check out vh1.com for the 40 Most Awesomely Bad Love Songs before you plan to make a compilation CD of Love songs for the 'Special One'.

Last Friday's sermon made it clear that is it not part of our religion and therefore we should not associate ourselves with it.
I leave you with this poem I wrote back when I was in MD. I wrote it for a girl I fancied and I thought maybe if you do celebrate V-Day, this might come in handy. But please ask before you copy it. Thank You.

SiRT - The Poet presents

Love is in the air - 5th February 1998

If you feel all alone,

Don't just sigh and moan,

Just call out my name,

And the emptiness will be gone.

If you feel insecure,

I will find you the cure,

Just give me the key,

Which leads to your heart,

And I will set you free.

If you feel that love hurts,

Just relax and be calm,

Because 'Today' in the day,

When love is in the air.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
