The Bad, The Good, The Errrr....

Yikes!!

I was really shocked to hear the news about the 25 year old woman sentenced to 15 months for accepting bribery. Although the sum of money accepted was rather low, but how one could accept it in the first place is what really bothers me.

I praise the Anti-Corruption Bureau's effort to instill an awarness about corruption at secondary level in M.I.B lessons. I have had the opportunity to have a read through and I am impressed. Fitted with quotes from the Al-Quran Al-karim and Al-Hadith. This is a very good initiative from the Bureau.

It is at that young age that young teenagers need to be exposed to such ill manner.

I hope the Bureau will be able to unfold bigger cases where larger sums of money have been accepted. Corruption is not uncommon. In some countries, it is more of a way of surviving life.

Hurrah!!!

A local company receives an APICTA award. Bravo and hats off to you as you have made our country proud. Slowly exposure like this can open our country to greater possibilities. As they say, 'Never be afraid to dream BIG'.

Borrowed from BB-Online Tuesday 7th November,

Westegrets Technology & Services Sdn Bhd of Brunei Darussalam won the 'Recognition Award' for its project "Mobile Payment System, Point Payment System, Community SMS", in the Start-Up Company Category of the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2006.

Hmm... Will this work?

Litterbugs to be fined a maximum of B$500 even if caught throwing away even a small piece of tissue paper I assume.

We are moving in the 'right' direction but whether it will work is another thing. The rules have been recently amended and this would cause raise a eyebrows amogst the public. Mentioned in the article that there are many agencies which will be involved in ensuring the cleanliness of our country.

My experience is that it is not just the agencies who should be responsible, but the general public who should lend a helping hand.

We should take Singapore as an example and it took them a while to get used to it. As the say, 'Rome was not built in a day!'

I would just love to see the first person to be handed the fine as this will cause a chain reaction to other to not mess around and think that this is just another one of those attempts to revive something just for the sake of it.

I remembered reading something about some areas which are in dire need of a clean up from Ms Maurina's T 'n' R and perhaps something should be done from there and further re-enforce this amended rule.

A clean Brunei is what most people would want to see in the 'NEAR' future. We cannot simply throw away our rubbish along the road or anywhere we feel like throwing. I might as well come up with some tips to prevent littering.

Here is a well known fact everyone should know:

NOT EVERYTHING IS BIODEGRADABLE!!
