Back on the Green

The last time I was on a golf course was... let me think...

Late last year at RBAGC with a good friend of mine Mr.Badut.

This year I've been caught up with work and I don't have a golf partner since Mr.Badut has taken time out from golf to play softball. I have made some visits to the driving range on some occasions; once with the Cutlery's at Empire and once with G-Nul and Juju at RBA.

Yesterday,Friday morning, for the first time I was back on the green. The smell of the morning grass and warm sun made me fall in love with Golf all over again. Its a game I've always wanted to play since I was a young lad and I am happy to be able to learn to play the game.

MZ invited me to play the Par 3 at the Polo Club and I was eager to try it out. Watching the game played by the pros makes your hands itch a little and all you needed was that extra little push. In my case, I was just waiting for and offer to play and I'm ready to go.

Very rusty indeed I was because the last time I was at the driving range must have been like 3 months ago. So I knew I was going to lose some balls and make lousy shots. I was prepared for the worst and I reminded myself I was just playing for fun and get a feel of the Par 3 course.

A nine hole Par 3 course might sound easy for most players but to me it was going to be difficult. I'm playing golf for the love of it and have not really decided to take my handicap. So my golfing knowledge is very limited.

MZ is the husband of ZT and ZT was my childhood classmate and now works with my Fiance, Fballe. MZ's handicap? I'm not sure. Forgot to ask him but he's a self-confessed golf addict. He can get a good distance with his irons and thats kinda like the opposite for me. He's a very good sports man and it was also kind of a practice session for him as well.

MZ put down my name for the P3K tournament this coming 20th and I'm estatic. My first golf tournament. Hehehehehe.

MZ was very supportive even though my shots were simply terrible. Well not all my shots. I did manage to get a couple of good shots and my best score was to get a bogey at hole #6 and #7.

I'd love to share with you the details of every shot I took at every hole. But I am not in a mood to humiliate myself today. *LoL* But I'll tell you this. I was very nervous on the first Tee because there were some people waiting to tee off. I manage to hit a tree twice in a row at the exact same spot in two attempts. A very embarassing start. *blush*

Anyways, here is an article about 'how' to find the 'swing' and for a beginner like me this is a good description about the 'grip'.

I'll be visiting the Par 3 course again next week and I'll put in some time at the driving range to get a feel of my swing. So many things to work on but I'm just entering the tournament for fun and hopefully meet some new friends.

Have a nice weekend peeps.
